Three ways into the city, one fixed fare.
Three motorway routes link the airport with the CBD. Which one is quickest depends on where in the city you are going and on the traffic at the time.
Southern Cross Drive and the Eastern Distributor (M1)
The classic run north from both terminals: Southern Cross Drive, then the Eastern Distributor to the William Street exit for the eastern half of the city: Hyde Park, Martin Place, Macquarie Street and down to Circular Quay. The Eastern Distributor is tolled northbound only.
Good for: Martin Place, Macquarie Street, Circular Quay, The Rocks, Hyde Park hotels
The Eastern Distributor, then the Cross City Tunnel
From the Eastern Distributor straight into the Cross City Tunnel, which runs under William and Park Streets and comes up at Darling Harbour. It crosses the city underground, away from the traffic lights on the surface. Tolled.
Good for: Darling Harbour, ICC Sydney, Darling Square, King Street Wharf, Pyrmont
Sydney Gateway, the M8 and the Anzac Bridge
Sydney Gateway, a toll-free road opened in September 2024, links T1 and T2/T3 to the St Peters Interchange. The WestConnex M8 tunnels run north from there to the Rozelle Interchange (open since November 2023), and from Rozelle your chauffeur crosses the Anzac Bridge into the west of the city. Tolled, by distance.
Good for: Barangaroo, Pyrmont, Rozelle, Balmain, White Bay Cruise Terminal
Your chauffeur checks live traffic before the pickup and takes whichever of the three is quickest at the time. The fare is the same on every route and already includes the tolls, so the route never changes what you pay.

Train, taxi, rideshare or chauffeur?
For one person with a backpack the train is hard to beat. With luggage, children, a late flight or a meeting to get to, a fixed fare and a chauffeur waiting inside the terminal is the easier trip.
| Option | How it works | Price |
|---|---|---|
| GR8 Transfers chauffeur | Meets you inside the terminal, waits free if the flight is late, drives you to the door with your bags | Fixed $95 before you pay |
| Airport train | About 13 minutes to the city (Sydney Airport); you carry your bags to and from the stations | Per person, plus the airport station access fee |
| Taxi rank | Ranks at the front of every terminal; metered | Metered, known at the end |
| Rideshare app | Pick up at the terminal rideshare zone | Set by the app at the time you book |
The train and rideshare are priced by others and change over time, so we leave their prices out.
