Katoomba is the busiest Blue Mountains town and the only one on this corridor where the train is genuinely competitive with driving. What the train cannot do is collect four people and their luggage from a Leura guesthouse at 3am for a 6am flight.
Katoomba sits on the electrified Blue Mountains Line, so the train is a genuine option: Central to Katoomba is a direct intercity run with no change of train.
