How do I get to Hyams Beach without a car?

GR8 Transfers drops you in Hyams Beach village and collects you later, for about $160 return from Huskisson or about $320 from Nowra (Executive Sedan). You never need a parking space. The village has about 400 spaces. A 2019 report put peak traffic at up to 5,000 vehicles a day, all on one narrow road. The fare is per car and the same on a January weekend as any other day.

Prices are for the whole car, not per person, and include tolls, GST and the NSW levy; the same fare applies at any hour. A drop-off and collection is exactly two one-way fares. “About” marks a fare worked out from an estimated road distance; the booking form shows the exact fixed fare for your address before you pay. People Mover (6–7 passengers) quoted on request; larger groups travel in two or more cars on the same schedule. Fares checked 31 October 2026.

How the day runs

The day, step by step.

  1. 9:15am

Pickup at your Huskisson accommodation. This is an example for a summer weekday; you choose both times.

  2. 9:30am

Drop-off in Hyams Beach village. Residents say day visitors start arriving around 7am; with a drop-off, a later start is no problem.

  3. 9:30am to 3:30pm

Your beach day. We do not drive into Booderee National Park, whose entry is paid separately and set by Parks Australia.

  4. 3:30pm

Your driver is back at the agreed spot in the village. Residents say day visitors tend to leave around 7pm, so a mid-afternoon pickup misses that rush.

  5. 3:45pm

Back at your accommodation in Huskisson.

Good to know.

Parking

Hyams Beach has about 400 parking spaces. SBS reported in January 2019 that up to 5,000 vehicles a day arrive in peak season, with council traffic controllers on duty.

Paid parking

Not in force as of 31 October 2026. Council voted to pause the proposal and consult, taking public feedback until 4 November 2026. Reports put any scheme about 36 months away; check Shoalhaven City Council for its decision.

Booderee National Park

Park entry is paid separately and set by Parks Australia. Its vehicle pass has been $20 a day since 1 August 2024 ($10 concession, $80 a year). We drop off and collect in Hyams Beach village and do not drive into the park.

Timing

Residents told AboutRegional in May 2026 that day visitors arrive around 7am and leave around 7pm. With a drop-off you can turn up mid-morning and still skip the search for a space.

Peak days

Demand is heaviest over Christmas, the summer school holidays and long weekends. Book early for those dates; the fare does not rise.
